Know what a role needs. And who brings it.
Competences describe abilities — what people can do and what roles require. Together they show where things fit and where something is missing.

Workable by people
Sound familiar?
- A role is filled anew, and only after weeks does it become clear what it actually required.
- Knowledge of an important system rests with exactly one person.
- People are needed for a new initiative. Who in the company would fit is known only within each department.
What changes
- 01 Clear requirements Every role states which competences it requires. Staffing decisions become easier to follow.
- 02 See gaps early Where a role asks for more than its people bring, or where knowledge rests with one person, it becomes visible.
- 03 Development with direction Training can be aligned with what roles need today and tomorrow.

Agents have abilities too — and limits
What an AI agent can and cannot do can be described just like for people. That shows which tasks an agent can sensibly take on.

Part of one model
Competences connect roles with people: the role says what is needed, the person what they bring, and the org chart where it comes together.
FAQ
Frequently asked
Is this a performance review?
No. roleALPHA describes abilities and requirements, not an assessment of people. Nor does it record activities at the workplace.
Is there a ready-made competence catalogue?
You start with categories such as technical, methodical, leadership or social and build your own catalogue — or bring in an existing one.
Who sees a person's competences?
You govern that through visibility and releases. For personal data in particular, we recommend agreeing it with the works council and data protection.
See it on your own organisation.
